IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME and enemas. please helpp!!!?

Question by : IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME and enemas. please helpp!!!?
Alright so, i am 15 years old, and i have had ibs for about a year now. So i pretty much have it all, gas, bloating, fatigue, constipation, irregular bowel movements, and chronic stomach aches. What i had been doing to help at first were laxatives. But, i read those werent good for you, so i stopped using them. After a while, i started using an enema, and now i just feel like im addicted. I do this water enema pretty much every day at night before i go to bed, i love how i feel so empty after and all my stomach pains go away(if i have any) i do take alot of vitamins to keep myself healthy, and i take a multi, b, d, c, cla, cranberry stuff, digestive enzyme, and something that helps with gas and aother thing that helps with the good bacteria in my colon, its made for ibs specifically. with all of that, i think i have less stomach aches,

but i was just really wondering about the daily enema, because i really can’t go to the bathroom without it.. well i havent tried it, but if i go a couple days without the enema i have gas, so i just have to keep doing it.

ANOTHER THING: i read that frequent laxatives can cause you to kind of shart your pants? enemas are somewhat the same thing.. will i shart myself?!?!?!

please answer EVERYTHING, thank you! :(

I used to have the exact same problems as you until I went off of gluten just over a year ago. Please hear me out, this isn’t some stupid fad, I’ll try my best to explain it. In some people, gluten can weaken and destroy the lining of the colon, which is what is causing all your symptoms (stomach ache, irregular bowel movements, gas, etc.). I was diagnosed which IBS when I was 11 (I’m 15 now) and I tried the exact same things you did, which only helped reduce the symptoms, but not get rid of them. But when I stopped eating gluten, everything and I mean EVERYTHING disappeared. I felt like a completely new person. I know a gluten-free diet sounds like it would suck, and it has a reputation of being a worthless fad. And it may not work for you. It doesn’t help all people. But I strongly, strongly recommend at least trying it for a week or so, and seeing if it does any good. Trust me, you’ll know in a very short period of time if it’s working or not. Good luck, and I hope you find a way to feel better, I’ve been there and I know it’s not fun :(

Btw you will not crap your pants by taking frequent/daily laxatives ;)

How can i support my husband who was recently diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome ?

Question by Iluvmyboys: How can i support my husband who was recently diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome ?
My husband was recentlly diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrom. I love him VERY much, but I hate to see him suffer. It was told he has a VERY sever case. He spends 1/4 of his bay in the bathroom. and 3/4 of the day in excrusiating pain. the smallest uneasy feeling sends him off to the bathroom.. What can i do to support him and show him how much i love him. IBS is a serious illness and none of the medication they have given him help, so it is a hard thought to live with that you will live this way for the rest of your life. We live in a state that does not have medical marijuana, which in all honesty seems to be the only thing that helps him. So I feel bad knowing there is something that can help him with the pain but knowing it could get him thrown in jail where he can not get what helps. So what i am asking is how can i make him feel more comfortable and tell him to be positive when i cannot help him????

IBS Irritable Bowel Syndrome – Part 1 – Nutrition by Natalie

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or spastic colon is a functional bowel disorder characterized by abdominal pain and changes in bowel habits which are more… not associated with any abnormalities seen on routine clinical testing. It is fairly common and makes up 20–50% of visits to gastroenterologists. Lower abdominal pain, and bloating associated with alteration of bowel habits and abdominal discomfort relieved with defecation are the most frequent symptoms. IBS is highly prevalent in the Western world, but despite the advancement of many theories, no clear cause has yet been established. Stress—feeling mentally or emotionally tense, troubled, angry, or overwhelmed—may trigger symptoms in people with IBS. One study found that women with IBS are more likely to report prior physical or sexual abuse; almost half of the patients reported prior abuse. IBS is not fatal nor is it linked to the development of other serious bowel diseases. However, due to the chronic pain, discomfort, and other symptoms, work absenteeism, social phobias, and other negative quality-of-life effects can be common in more serious cases. Individuals who find a caring primary caregiver and/or sufficient self-help options should be able to develop a successful treatment program for their symptoms and lead normal lives. http

Some of the early signs of pregnancy are nausea, breast tenderness, constipation, sometimes headaches, frequent urination, and of course a missed period.

You might wait before you panic too much though because IBS DOES have a lot of the same symptoms that pregnancy exhibits.

Good luck to you!!!
